We’re delighted to announce that Folie à Deux will be a part of this year’s Sacrum Profanum Festival, marking the first time the piece will be performed in Poland.
We’ll be presenting the piece on Thursday 6 October, at the Małopolska Garden of Arts, Krakow – an award-winning building housing a theatre and library in the heart of the city. Folie à Deux, written by Emily Hall and novelist Sjon, features vocals from jazz artist Sofia Jernberg and tenor Andrew Dickinson. For this performance they will be accompanied by harpist Ruth Wall, composer Emily Hall on specially-created electromagnetic harp, and Mira Calix who joins the staged show for the first time playing live electronics.
Sacrum Profanum is an annual festival of contemporary music held in venues across the city. This year’s programme is described as ‘alchemy… a multi-threaded composition of 20th century academic music, mad avant-garde and indie classical.’ Alongside Folie à Deux, the festival includes music from artists on the Bedroom Community label (which released Folie à Deux as an album last year) including Valgeir Sigurðsson, Nico Muhly and Jodie Landau.
