Peter Cant is a director, librettist and performance maker. A graduate of the Jerwood Opera Writing Programme, Peter works internationally, devising interdisciplinary performances which create spaces for encounters between artists, communities and audiences. He was librettist and director of Unborn in America at ROH Linbury Studio and Vault Festival and has written and directed new work for ENO Baylis Youth Opera Company and Mahogany Opera. His theatre installations Alexandria and Let’s Pretend You’re Close By with artist Krzysztof Honowski have been performed at the Barbican London, Yard Theatre London, Sound Acts Festival Athens, and Tropez Berlin. He has collaborated with jazz composer Trish Clowes for BBC Radio 3’s Late Junction and Hear & Now. Peter’s work with young people includes Glyndebourne’s Tycho’s Dream, dramaturgy of the Barbican-Guildhall show Unleashed and re-imaginings of Janácek’s Jenufa and Verdi's Aida with ENO Baylis. Together with Katharina Schenk he co-directed productions with his group of Ukrainian actors at Kyiv Gogolfest, Schloss Freudenberg Wiesbaden, Dakh Theatre Kyiv, and Deutsches Theater Berlin.
