Lead artist (A Reasonable Adjustment)
Toria is co-founder (with Linda Hirst & Simone Ibbett-Brown) of HERA, an intersectional feminist opera company. She co-created new operatic gig theatre show ‘Generation’ (premiered York Concerts 2019, touring 2020) with composer Cevanne Horrocks-Hopayian & poet Sabrina Mahfouz: making a verbatim script from interviews with the company and a series of translation-adaptations of arias by women composers (completed in residency at The Red House). She has directed at Grimeborn, Tête à Tête & HGO, and staff directed for ROH & ETO. Resident Director at Trinity Laban since 2009, she has taught acting at Arts Ed and Central School of Speech & Drama. As a dramaturg she has produced adaptations of classic texts (including A Midsummer Night’s Dream for Told by an Idiot) and moulded devised and found text (including Spirit of the Fringe award-winning The Fragility of X ). She has written 3 plays for professional touring in Scotland, including Deeds not Words (Rural Nations, 2018) and began a new play - The Agony of Modern Music - in residence at The Watch (Berlin) in 2019.
