Song, drama and electronic soundscape combine in a vivid representation of how the rich and nuanced life experiences of disabled people show up the intellectual and emotional impoverishment of official attitudes.
Media coverage of disability is understandably dominated by urgent issues of suffering and discrimination. A Reasonable Adjustment uses the text of interviews with disabled people to open up new understandings of self and body, offering radical, surprising and utopian perspectives on human society. Conceived for an ensemble of disabled performers, it shows the agile and progressive ways in which disabled people embrace technology to increase their creativity and agency in sharp contrast to the institutions they must navigate.
